Telangana: Sarpanch attempts self-immolation along with husband in Nizamabad
A sarpanch along with her husband in Telagana’s Nizamabad attempted self-immolation outside collector’s office.
The sarpanch accused the BRS MLA Jeevan Reddy of not releasing pending bills for the past four years.
By Abdul Basheer: A sarpanch from Telangana on Monday attempted suicide along with her husband in front of the collector’s office in Nizamabad.
S Vani, who is a sarpanch and her husband, S Tirupati, attempted self-immolation with an inflammable liquid. The sarpanch accused the BRS MLA Jeevan Reddy of not releasing pending bills for the past four years.
“We have spent about Rs 1.5 crore on various development works by borrowing the money, and now the outstanding amount has become 3 crores with interest,” said the sarpanch.
“Vice-sarpanch Mada Ravi has not been cooperating in sanctioning the bills. Even MLA Jeevan Reddy is not cooperating. We do not know what to do and therefore were forced to attempt self-immolation, she said.
According to Nizamabad Zilla Panchayat Officer, “Nandipet Sarpanch S Vani along with her husband has given a complaint against the sub sarpanch. They stated that the sub sarpanch is not signing the cheques for the developmental works undertaken and also not cooperating in the village’s developmental activities. They have demanded to take action against the sub-Sarpanch,” reported news agency ANI.
